Dunlop's Geomax MX54 may be one of the BEST tires for your Electric Dirt Bike!

If you've been riding the Geomax MX53, you already know why Dunlop's intermediate-to-hard terrain tires are a staple on tracks and trails everywhere. Now there's a successor, and it's not a minor refresh — the Geomax MX54 brings a new tread pattern, an updated compound, and test data that puts it a full 1.64 seconds faster per lap than its predecessor at Dunlop's Proving Grounds in Huntsville, AL (tested on a Honda CRF450R).

We just brought it into the shop. Here's what riders need to know!

What's new on the front

The MX54 front tire gets an all-new tread pattern built around a continuous center groove, engineered to improve turn-in precision, braking grip, and stability as conditions shift from soft-intermediate to hard-packed. If you've ever had a front end wash out mid-corner as the track dried out, this is the fix Dunlop designed for.

What's new on the rear

The rear tire borrows its tread pattern directly from Dunlop's Geomax Factory Spec tire — the same lineage used at the top level of competition. That translates to better drive grip, more predictable slide control, and stronger traction under hard acceleration. The rear block height is also roughly 5% taller, adding traction and durability as the tire wears through a moto.

The technology behind it

Dunlop's Progressive Cornering Block Technology Advanced increases the number of biting edges in the tread, improving both flex and grip through the widest range of terrain conditions the MX54 is built for. Combined with an updated compound and carcass construction, the tire is built to hold its performance longer — not just fast out of the box, but fast for the life of the tire.

Who it's for

The MX54 is built for exactly the terrain most riders actually race and ride on: intermediate-to-hard-packed tracks that change character over the course of a day, from morning moisture to afternoon hardpack. If that's your local track, this is a direct upgrade over the MX53 — same category, meaningfully better execution.

"This tire is my new go to for the broad majority of terrain that I ride in Utah. From the Hard Pack deserts of Southern Utah, to the Mountainous single track in Northern Utah this tire has given me more confidence and stability than any other Tire on the Planet" -Brett Baldwin (Professional Athlete for Bonnell Racing)

Sizing and availability

The Geomax MX54 is available now in 6 front sizes and 11 rear sizes, covering most motocross and off-road setups.

When it comes to the Small Sized E-Moto bikes, like your Surron Light Bee or the E Ride Pro Lineup fitting the Dunlop Series of tires has always been difficult in the rear. The new Dunlop MX54 is no longer as wide as previous Dunlops meaning that fitting a 90/100-16  on the rear of a bike is WAY less likely to need Dished.

Sadly if you are running an 18" Rear on the small category of E-Moto's you will not be able to utilize a MX54 because they do not make this tire in the vintage 90/100-18 Size. Dunlop does however still make the Dunlop MX33 in a 90/100-18 and this is by far your best option for the 18" Small Sized E Moto bikes!
