Recommendations
PLEASE consider the weight you are adding to your bike — bigger is not always better.
We recommend choosing the right size for your terrain while minimizing added weight:
- Front: 2.75x21 is preferred over 3.00x21
- Rear: 3.00x18 is preferred over 3.50x18
Urban / City Riding
- Front: Shinko SR241 2.75
- Rear: Shinko SR241 2.75
- Total Weight Gain: ~4 lbs
Hard Pack Off-Road
- Front: Dunlop MX53 (or similar hard-terrain tire) – 70/100x19
- Rear: Shinko SR241 2.75x19
- Total Weight Gain: ~3.5 lbs
Notes
3.5" tires may require slight rim dishing (about 1/8" to the left) to clear the chain. A spoke wrench is all that’s needed — check out our upcoming YouTube tutorial to see how easy this is.
The 19x3.5" version is over 1.5" taller, making it a poor match for a 19" front tire. It’s only recommended when running a 21" front. Running 19x3.5" rear with a 19" front can cause “stinkbug” geometry — pushing too much weight onto the front tire, resulting in poor handling and front-end washouts. For best performance, stick with the 2.75" rear if you’re on a 19" front.
